All around the world there are cultures that have figured this out and have created ceremonies to affirm the process of going from a boy to a man. Here in the U.S we have no such process. There are timeframes in which people assume that a boy has become a man. These would be there age, some would say when they turn 18 their legally a man. Are they? Some would say when the first engage in sexual intercourse this makes them a man. Are they?

A Man of Integrity
A man of cause acts. He initiates. He leads through decisions that matter. But there is another element that separates a biblical man from a man of the world: integrity.
Integrity is simple in definition, yet profound in practice: words and actions match. What a man says aligns with what he does. He does not speak lightly. He does not speak without purpose. He does not act without principle. A man of integrity is consistent, reliable, and anchored.
The Scriptures speak clearly to this. In Proverbs 10:9, it is written:
“He that walketh uprightly walketh surely: but he that perverteth his ways shall be known.”
A man who aligns his words with his actions walks securely. There is stability in his life because others can trust what he says. There is confidence in his decisions because they reflect truth, not convenience.
Consider Jesus: every word He spoke was aligned with action. He healed the sick He called, taught the truths He lived, and fulfilled the promises He made. His life demonstrates that a man of cause must be a man of integrity—or his efforts falter.
Integrity protects others and amplifies purpose. A man without it may initiate great causes, but those causes are fragile. They crumble when promises fail or actions betray words. A man of integrity ensures that the seeds he plants bear life, not confusion or disappointment.
It begins with being truthful in speech, in thought, and in intent. Then it extends to action: doing what you said you would do, following through, and remaining steadfast even when it is difficult. In Psalm 15:1-2, it says: “Lord, who shall abide in thy tabernacle? who shall dwell in thy holy hill? He that walketh uprightly, and worketh righteousness, and speaketh the truth in his heart.”
Integrity is not merely about avoiding lies—it is about alignment: saying what you mean, meaning what you say, and acting without contradiction. It is the foundation upon which a man of cause can build. Without it, even the most well-intentioned actions can fail.
A man of integrity becomes a safe harbor for those around him—his family, his wife, his children, and his community. They know that his word is trustworthy, his decisions are grounded, and his actions are dependable. This is how God designed manhood to function: cause grounded in truth and reliability.
